JOB DESCRIPTION
The Jewish Family Services Coordinator will lead the development and delivery of programs and services that support the well-being of individuals and families within the Jewish community of Champaign-Urbana. A key focus of this role is outreach and connection to resources, ensuring individuals and households have access to the support they need, both within and outside the community. By reviewing existing initiatives and creating innovative new programs, this position will address critical needs, foster resilience, and strengthen the communal fabric—all guided by Jewish values and cultural sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development
- Work Closely with the Human Services Committee: Work with the committee to analyze current and future community needs and strengthen services.
- Policy Creation and Oversight: Develop and implement policies and procedures to guide the operation of Jewish Family Services programs, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Position Development: Define the scope and evolution of this role to meet changing community needs, including future opportunities for program expansion.
- Strategic Planning: Work closely with Federation leadership to establish both short-term and long-term goals for the program, ensuring sustainability and growth.
- Grant Research and Applications: Collaborate with the Executive Director to research and apply for grants to secure funding for program initiatives and future expansion.
Outreach and Resource Connection
- Proactive Outreach: Identify and engage households that may benefit from support, ensuring their needs are met through tailored interventions.
- Connecting to Resources: Serve as a bridge to external agencies and local organizations, providing clients with access to essential services such as financial aid, mental health counseling, elder care, and more.
- Emergency and Crisis Response: Develop and implement strategies to support the community in times of crisis, including resource referrals and direct interventions.
- Action-Oriented Advocacy: Take a proactive approach to addressing community needs by leveraging partnerships and acting on identified gaps.
Evaluation and Reporting
- Work with the Executive Director and Human Services Committee to develop Key Performance Indicators to measure program impact and feasibility of sustaining the program in future fiscal years.
- Track program outcomes and assess their impact to ensure alignment with the Federation’s mission and community goals.
- Regularly assess and refine program goals based on community feedback and emerging needs.
- Provide regular updates to Federation leadership on progress, challenges, and successes.
Program Timeline - Pilot Implementation (January-June 2025):
- Note that this position is piloting a program and continuation beyond June 2025 will be contingent on securing funding and meeting Key Performance Indicators.
- Conduct targeted fundraising and apply for grants to secure FY 2026 support.
- Months 1-3: Program planning, stakeholder engagement, and policy review.
- Months 4-6: Launch outreach efforts and initial support services. Secure funding for Months 7+. Develop a strategic plan for the first 2 years pending program continuation.
Qualifications
- Experience in program coordination and social work training.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with Jewish culture, values, and traditions.
- Training in trauma-informed care is a plus.
- Experience working with volunteers and managing teams.
- Grant writing experience.
- Familiarity with the Champaign-Urbana Jewish community or willingness to quickly learn.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, and Microsoft Office.
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends.
