Description
The J is hiring energetic Coaches for the Spring soccer season. Our Coaches oversee all aspects of the youth soccer program, which can include serving as a customer service point-of-contact, coach, or referee. The J’s soccer program emphasizes skill development, fun, safety and convenience, and teaches the value of good sportsmanship. Experience as a coach/player/referee is preferred, but not mandatory.
Schedule
We are hiring reliable part-time staff for 5-10 hours per week to lead soccer practices for 1st -6th graders on weeknights and to coach games on weekends. Other opportunities may also present themselves, as the J offers year-round soccer programming.
Essential Functions
- Coach age/skill level- appropriate soccer training sessions, practices, and games for ages 5-12
- Run and implement soccer sessions ranging from skill work to small-sided scrimmages
- Will be required to be capable of implementing curriculum on their own with no supervision
- Be responsible for team equipment such as transporting balls and equipment between multiple soccer sites
- Present for all scheduled team practices and games
- Foster and encouraging and positive environment for young athletes
- Demonstrate professionalism and responsibility when interacting with players and families
- Supervise children ages 5 to 12 years old
Requirements
- Experience working with children preferred
- Experience as a coach/referee/player is preferred
- Knowledge of soccer and its rules
- Able to work a flexible schedule
- Must have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
- Constant standing, walking and exposure to the weather outdoors
- Frequent walking/running, eye/hand/foot coordination, talking and hearing to demonstrate and execute skills
- Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. to move equipment as needed
