We seeking a highly qualified Senior Director of Youth and Family Engagement ultimately responsible for the JCC’s Early Childhood Education Department, Youth Programs, and Family Programs. Reporting directly to the Chief Impact Officer, the Senior Director of Youth & Family Engagement oversees program development, staff oversight, and the supervision and implementation of the programs in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the JCC. The Senior Director of Youth & Family Engagement will ensure that the highest levels of care, education, and program delivery are provided to its participants.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with the JCC’s Chief Impact Officer to create a shared vision for high-quality, enriching programming.
- Directly supervise and support the directors of Gan Ami Whitefish Bay, Gan Ami Mequon, Youth Programs, and Family Programs.
- Work in partnership with the Milwaukee Jewish Federation to oversee and support the Shin-Shin (Young Israeli Emissary) Program.
- Provide staff mentorship, guidance and growth opportunities in a safe, healthy, and intellectually stimulating, challenging work environment.
- Ensure the highest levels of communication with program users and members are achieved through active staff supervision and mentorship. Ensure that the communication is varied and may include written plans, reflections, meetings, newsletters, and that all staff are clear and accurate when communicating program goals and plans to program users.
- Ensure that JCC programs and classes are developed, recruited for, organized, logistically supported, and facilitated, so that a cohesive program is offered for JCC members and the broader community.
- Oversee department budgets, ensuring that fiscal goals are met.
- Ensure that JCC programs are appropriately staffed and that each department is provided adequate supplies to provide high-quality facilitation.
- Complete annual performance evaluations for direct reports, as well as other department staff (in consultation and collaboration with their direct supervisors), where applicable.
- Provide effective staff trainings to ensure the highest levels of program standards and facilitation.
- Participate in Supervisor training and professional development sessions.
- Assume responsibilities as assigned for JCC special events.
- Ensure that the Chief Impact Officer is apprised of any challenges, concerns, or potential negative impact to the JCC.
- Actively promote and practice the organization’s Rules of Positive Communication.
- Perform the MOD (Manager-on-Duty) responsibilities, as assigned.
- Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities, as needed.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements (KSA’s)
- Ability to articulate the influences of Judaic culture to program users and staff, being sensitive to cultural differences.
- Knowledge of Judaic culture and traditions (Jewish holidays, rituals, customs, etc.).
- Ability to demonstrate a flexible and enthusiastic work style, create a positive and harmonious workplace, manage time effectively, and understand individual leadership styles and its influence on the well-being of the department staff.
- Ability to resolve conflict effectively by demonstrating maturity the ability to work well with a variety of people.
- Ability to respond effectively to constructive criticism and provide constructive feedback to staff, as well as ensure that an environment which fosters maximum physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development is developed and maintained.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer software: including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; customer-service orientation with specific strengths in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
Education And/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in program planning, curriculum development and implementation.
