Principal Responsibilities:
The JCC Camp and Youth Director oversees the creation, promotion, staffing, curriculum, and administrative functions of all camp/school days out/childrens theatre, and BBYO programs. This position has oversight and supervision responsibilities of staff and programs. The director leads all efforts to develop and deliver an annual array of camp and youth programs and opportunities that are fresh, current, and keep pace with current trends.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Leadership & Vision:
- Establish goals, benchmarks, and evaluation for all camp and youth programs.
- Actively engage and energize direct reports, colleagues, camp staff, families, lay leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate program components to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the youth and family committee, JCC advisory board, and other constituents.
Recruitment and Retention:
- Develop and implement a year-round marketing strategy to ensure successful recruitment and retention of campers and year-round participants.
- Work closely with JCC Executive Director to develop initiatives to support recruitment and retention strategies and goals.
- Actively engage the greater Dayton community to meet with potential campers, parents, and partners.
- Create year-round camp programs to attract new campers and keep current families engaged and connected.
- Build an alumni camp program.
- Work closely with teen BBYO Board regarding recruitment for the BBYO program.
Program Development:
- Ensure development and implementation of innovative and meaningful programming for all camp/youth/teen programs.
- Implement programming for children, families, and staff which will encourage engagement in year-round experiences.
- Develop and oversee all systems and procedures of registration and camp administration.
- Ensure consistency in policies and procedures across all camps and programs.
Supervision and Staffing:
- Hire and oversee spring/summer/winter staff.
- Prepare and lead camp orientation and in-service training.
Fiscal Management:
- Working with the finance department and Executive Director to plan and track all program budgets, monthly statements, and forecasts.
Lay Leadership:
- Develop and engage a JCC Camp Committee.
- Serve as staff liaison on the Youth Committee to develop and implement long range plans.
- Identify, recruit, and develop lay leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience
- Two or four years of camp management and administrative experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Jewish culture, heritage, and traditions.
- Budgetary/financial skills and experience preferred.
- Proven ability to effectively collaborate with internal team, cross-functional team, and external parties in a rapidly growing environment.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 per year.
