Job Description
The J is seeking enthusiastic individuals who have a passion for working with children ages 3 months to 11 years and are committed to providing a safe and engaging environment for them. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the daily care and supervision for the J’s Kid Care program, including direct interaction with the children, leading activities, ensuring safety, managing Kid Care staff, and communicating effectively with parents and other staff, while adhering to all childcare regulations and standards. This position is part-time and averages 25 hours. Schedule will be as follows: Sundays from 8am-1pm, Mondays – Thursdays from 4pm – 8pm and some in – office hours.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Meet with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and check in/out procedures.
- Delegate tasks and provide guidance to other childcare attendants, ensuring consistent quality of care.
- Enforce safety guidelines and handbook procedures, including proper use of equipment, accident prevention procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Lead quarterly team meetings and training for current and new Kid Care staff
- Responsible for hiring and onboarding staff for Kid Care
- Responsible for creating the monthly schedule for Kid Care
- Report any concerns to supervisor about the children, parents, members and/or others as needed, including reporting of any incident where a child is injured, or suspected of child abuse or neglect.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Childcare Responsibilities
- Actively monitor and supervise children of various ages within the designated childcare area, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Stays alert to children’s needs and/or problems as individuals and as a group.
- Engages children in developmentally appropriate games and learning activities.
- Maintain open communication with parents by providing updates on their child's day, addressing concerns, and promptly informing them of any incidents.
- Enforce safety guidelines and handbook procedures, including proper use of equipment, accident prevention procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized childcare area, including toys and surfaces, to prevent the spread of germs.
- Ensures children are properly signed in and signed out, ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with each child.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk, talk and hear
- Use hands to climb or balance
- Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Required CPR and First Aid certified (offer by JCC)
- Must have 3+ years of experience working with children in a daycare or similar setting
- Must have the ability to adjust to changing schedules and unexpected situations
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Must have strong leadership abilities
