Part-Time Temple Administrator
Year Round/ 15 hours per week/ Non-Exempt
Reports to: Rabbi and Board of Trustees
Job Purpose: The Temple Administrator serves as the chief Administrator of the synagogue. This professional executes the vision of the Board of Trustees by managing the economic, physical, and human resource functions of the synagogue. Through these, the Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the Board and Rabbi to achieve the organization’s mission and spiritual health of the members that it serves.
Essential Job Functions
· Work with Rabbi on coordinating staff and liaise with the Federation and LLC
· Coordinate synagogue calendar and scheduling
· Respond to donors, assist with management of donor relations, and seek new funding sources
· Maintain confidential employee files
· Work closely with the Finance Manager with fiscal and budgetary matters and to process payroll, manage employee benefits and days not worked
· Oversee dues abatement process
· Oversee electronic systems
· Oversee the administration of special projects such as security grants
· Relationship building with congregants
· Oversee recruitment efforts for new and potential members
· Work with committees and task forces on programming
· Oversee communication
· Assist Rabbi with religious duties as needed, and represent B’nai Israel at functions when Rabbi is not available
· Manage public relations opportunities
· Be present at, assist with, and respond to issues and concerns for Shabbat, High Holy Day, and other holiday services and observances
· Oversee High Holy Day administrative planning
· Attend all Board meetings and relevant Committee meetings as needed
· Assist congregants with questions, concerns, suggestions, and challenges
· Inform congregants of Judaic customs and practices
· Participate in and/or provide guidance in the planning and execution of special events and projects
· Troubleshoot issues and serve as a point of contact for member concerns
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
· Maintain professional membership in NATA and utilize professional learning and resources
· Other duties as assigned by Rabbi or synagogue President
