Club J Lead Counselor Position Summary
The Shanna & Bryan Glazer JCC is seeking an energetic and reliable lead counselor for our Club J afterschool program. Club J is an after school enrichment program serving children from kindergarten through 5 th grade. Lead counselors must be able to keep their group safe at all times and provide a fun, nurturing setting.
Possible part-time and full time in various shifts available throughout the day anywhere from 8am-6pm.
Essential Job Functions
- Serve as a role model to Club J counselors and participants
- Interact positively with students, parents, and co-workers
- Lead daily program operations, including the possibility of driving a Club J van or bus to pick up children from assigned schools
- Setup and clean up of program space and daily activities
- Excellent communication skills and prepared for collaborative work in a team environment
- Implement and adhere by all Club J program policies and procedures
- Directly supervise children in your group, including consistent monitoring of where every child in the group is at all times throughout the day
- Positively manage children using appropriate behavior management techniques
- Ability to lead, create and implement activities on a daily basis including homework supervision and a combination of enrichments (i.e., arts and crafts, sports, team-building exercises, drama, dance and more.)
- Availability to work Club J Vacation Days.
- Communicate with the manager or supervisor about any issues regarding children or staff
- Take responsibility for all participants by using common sense, safety, and high moral character
- Display leadership, responsibility, patience, confidentiality, creativity, dependability and trustworthiness
- Ensure that children have a positive and fun experience while participating in the Club J program
- Check in with program manager to be assigned other functions (i.e., filing, printing, document management, etc.)
Driving Job Functions
- transport passengers in a safe and timely manner
- maintain order of children for duration of the route
- monitor condition of the interior and exterior of vehicles and conduct pre-trip inspections
- maintain accurate documentation for licensing

- Must have a clean driving record
- If driving van/bus must be 21 and must get Commercial Driver’s License to drive the bus
Education
- Complete required 40 hours Child Care Licensing Course within the required time allotted.
- Maintain certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Maintain all background checks required by Child Care Licensing.
- Maintain a minimum 10 hours of continuing education annually.
- Maintain yearly physical required by Child Care Licensing for transporting children.
- Must have graduated High School
- Some college experience or degree preferred

Reports directly to Youth/Teens Programs Manager at SBGJCC
