Principal Responsibilities:
The Manager, Camps + School-Age Services performs a key role in the development, implementation and supervision of After-School and Vacation Day programs during the school year and serves as Assistant Director of The J's summer day camp program.
Essential Functions
- Assist with the hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of After-School, Vacation Day and Camp staff.
- Develop/maintain relationships with school staff, transportation partners, and J Department staff that work with Camps + School-Age Services programs.
- Schedule field trips, special events, speakers, transportation, and order lunches, snacks and other related tasks.
- Ensure that After-School and Vacation Day payments are accurately processed. Process Purchase Orders for After-School, Vacation Days and J Camp.
- Assist with ensuring programs include education about and celebration of Jewish history, culture, and holidays.
- Serve as Assistant Director for a large summer day camp program including supervision, development, and implementation of specific programs.
- Manage the application, interview, placement, and supervision process for Leaders in Training (14- and 15-year-old volunteers who assist with summer day camp).
- Regularly communicate program information and progress to parents.
- Assist with marketing and communications to current and prospective customers.
Schedule
The Manager must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday through Friday that includes opening and/or closing shifts. During the school year, the Manager's hours may vary, but he/she must be available to work between 7:15am and 6pm. During the summer season, the Manager must be available to work between 6:45am and 6pm. Occasionally, summer programs last until 8pm.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation or related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in the field of school-age programs, preferably with children in kindergarten through 8th grade.
- Experience assisting with day camp programs preferred.
- Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
- Able to hire, manage, motivate, and coach staff members to deliver high quality programs.
- Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communication.
- Able to manage detailed information relating to transportation logistics, program schedules, and resources such as rooms, equipment and personnel.
- Able to form and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and coworkers.
- Able to work a flexible schedule Monday through Friday that includes opening and/or closing shifts.
- Certified or able to become certified in First Aid, CPR and Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting
- Familiarity with licensed and/or accredited youth-serving programs preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Able to walk indoor and outdoor spaces throughout our large Campus during a variety of weather conditions.
- Able to work around young children with a variety of health issues.

$45,000 - $55,000
