Donor Engagement Assistant
The Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville (JFGN) is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as we secure the necessary resources to sustain and grow Jewish life throughout Greater Nashville.

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive individual who is ready to join us in our mission to create a strong, interconnected, and lively Jewish community in Greater Nashville. We are looking for someone with outstanding organizational skills, a keen ability to analyze situations, excellent listening skills, and a willingness to work with donor software and CRM systems.
What you’ll be doing
The Donor Engagement Assistant will be an essential member of the Financial Resource Development team, supporting the work of the department across a range of areas, with particular focus on Special campaigns, capital campaigns and other revenue enhancing initiatives that might be undertaken by the Federation. This is a full-time position and the Donor Engagement Assistant reports directly to the Federation’s Chief Development Officer. In addition to Campaign-related responsibilities the Donor Engagement Assistant also works collaboratively with other Federation department personnel to provide logistical and technical support for the Federation’s various programs, activities and services.
Essential Job Functions
•Provide administrative support to the Chief Development Officer.
•Be the first point of contact for donors and the public over the phone.
•Maintain the donor management database system used by the Jewish Federation which is currently Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge.
•Entering and maintaining accurate information of constituent names, addresses and other pertinent donor personal information.
•Entering donor pledges in Blackbaud.
•Generating campaign and other data-based reports.
•Generating general and segmented lists and rosters.
•Updating contributor information regarding solicitations and gifts.
•Generating pledge cards, thank you, condolences, and other acknowledgement letters.
•Maintain the mass email distribution list used by the Jewish Federation.
•Sending out monthly emails for B’nai Tzedek regarding balances.
•Review death notices and obituaries to update database.
•Order Federation stationery, envelopes, business cards, and other office supplies.
•Administering internal staff meetings including creating agendas and managing Zoom.
•Respond to Jotform requests and emails to be added to newsletter distribution list, New to Nashville or NowGen.
•Exporting various donor lists for mailings, campaign solicitations, and affiliates who are
doing mailings to the Jewish community.
•Exporting open and closed pledge lists weekly.
Skills you’ll need:
•Self-motivated individual with the ability to work creatively and flexibly in a dynamic
environment.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
•Highly organized and detail oriented. Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and balance numerous projects simultaneously.
•Familiarity with donor software and CRM’s is highly desired. Strong computer skills are necessary, specifically in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
•Familiarity with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge system is a plus.
•Excellent verbal communication skills.
•Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality including the ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate.
•Strong copywriting and editing skills.
•Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion and sensitivity.
•Preference of 1-2 years prior experience working in a non-profit setting or similar experience.
•Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working for Jewish organizations, and a deep knowledge of Judaism, Jewish culture and traditions.
•While knowledge about the Jewish Federation is desirable, it is not a pre-requisite for this position.
•Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
