We are searching for a Senior Director of Finance/Controller who is mission driven and looking to make an impact. This may be the position for you if you are looking for a challenging role in an established, value-based organization with an opportunity for growth in the future.
SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of Finance/Controller serves as the hands-on leader of our finance team. This position is responsible for oversight and management of the finance team, leading the day-to-day finance operations, including accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, preparing the financial reporting package, and ensuring the financial aspects of the department are well-managed. The Senior Director interacts frequently with the CFO, CEO and the Board and is heavily involved in the budget and audit processes.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Oversight and Management of the Finance Department to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management and audit.
- Play an integral role in the preparation and creation of the annual budget and projections, performing year-to-year and budget-to-actual variance analysis monthly.
- Monitor month end closing process, prepare monthly financial reports, analyze variances, and distribute departmental reports to senior directors and to CFO.
- Assist Senior Directors in understanding and analyzing monthly reports, budgets, variances and implications for their departments and programs.
- Monitor cash balances, wire transfer activity, and agency credit card usage.
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit with external audit firm in conjunction with the CFO.
- Manage imports from our various CRM systems on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to assure accuracy of the data and successful import into accounting records.
- Responsible for reviewing A/P check runs for accurate coding and correctness prior to processing.
- Manage recordation of cash entries and bank reconciliations performed by cash accountant.
WHO YOU ARE:
- 10 years of accounting experience to include a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial management, assistant controller or controller role.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, CPA Preferred
- Prior experience with finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP, not-for-profit accounting experience preferred.
- Ability to be strategic and work in conjunction with a hands-on role.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Mission driven with strong people skills and customer service mentality.
- Superior attention to detail, with excellent analytical and financial reporting skills
- Computer proficiency and skills in Excel and accounting software to include database, GL, CRM.
PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend time sitting and using a computer, laptop, or phone. The employee may also be required to frequently be on their feet for periods of time.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.
- The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The workspace may be noisy, at times.
BENEFITS AND PERKS:
Salary Range: $125,000-$145,000
