DIRECTOR OF RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AND ENGAGEMENT

Jewish Community Services of South Florida, Inc. (JCS) seeks a Director of Resource Development and Engagement to strengthen philanthropic support and cultivate meaningful relationships with key stakeholders. This position is instrumental in advancing the mission of JCS by securing financial resources and fostering donor engagement that supports programs for South Florida's diverse communities.
The Director will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors contributing between $1,000 and $50,000 annually. They will lead the re-design and implementation of annual solicitation strategies, focusing on growing membership in JCS affinity groups and increasing donor engagement. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director will contribute to department planning and serve as a key partner in achieving fundraising and engagement goals.
This is a full-time professional role requiring flexibility, including some evenings, weekends, and early mornings. As a representative of JCS, the Director is expected to uphold the organization’s values in all interactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include the following, and other duties may be assigned:
Fundraising and Prospect Management:
- Must fundraise and lead a team of fundraisers to achieve development goals
- Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and program leaders to define and prioritize funding needs; develop proposals that align with JCS goals and donor interests
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 donors and prospects, cultivating relationships and soliciting contributions between $1,000 and $50,000
- Achieve an annual fundraising goal of $500,000+ from major gift and annual fund donors through at least 100 personal contacts annually
- Create and implement data-driven annual fund strategies, identifying new donor prospects and increasing support from recurring donors and affinity groups
- Maintain accurate donor records and engagement strategies using Raiser’s Edge NXT.
Affinity Groups Volunteer Engagement:
- Oversee JCS affinity group initiatives, serving as the primary contact for committees and volunteers
- Develop agendas, prepare briefings, and support affinity groups in outreach and fundraising efforts
- Recruit, onboard, and engage new affinity group members and volunteers
Donor Stewardship and Events:
- Develop and implement programs to deepen donor engagement and foster long-term investment in JCS initiatives
- Plan and coordinate major fundraising and stewardship events, including dedications and recognition programs
- Build meaningful relationships with donors, ensuring they are informed about the impact of their contributions
SUPERVISION:
The Director will provide oversight and guidance to the team in the Chief Development Officer’s absence when delegated.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, required
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated success in a fundraising or development role, preferably in social services or healthcare
- Experience with fundraising/donor databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge
- Proven ability to secure gifts from corporations, foundations, and individuals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling proposals and donor correspondence
- Exceptional relationship management skills, with the ability to connect meaningfully with diverse stakeholders
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
- Familiarity with South Florida’s philanthropic community
- CFRE certification is a plus
