Job Summary:

As a Fitness Attendant your main objective is to provide the highest level of service to our members and guests when entering the fitness center. Primary duties include providing exceptional customer service, maintaining standard operations, monitoring, and upholding cleanliness of the JCC Fitness Center, and working as a team with other staff. Responsible for checking members in and providing program information and registration for the fitness department as needed.

This position is part-time and averages 10-20 hours per week. MUST BE FLEXIBLE. The hours are as follows: Mondays - Thursdays 4:45am - 9:30pm and/or Fridays 4:45am – 10am.

Qualifications

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide essential customer service to ensure member satisfaction and member appreciation. Greeting all members and guests upon their arrival and departure from the fitness center and ensure they follow proper check-in procedures.
Maintain current knowledge about all programs, services and activities offered at the JCC Fitness Center to promote these services and assist members with inquiries about these areas.
Serve as a liaison between members and staff by communicating member concerns, suggestions, and complaints to the proper supervisor.
Conduct point of sales and registrations for the fitness department via phone or in person transactions when needed.
Scheduling new members orientations and teen orientations
Prepared to handle any emergencies and report to the proper supervisor.
Maintaining and reporting any equipment in need of a working order.

Physical Demands

In addition to their primary responsibilities, employee will be required to be on their feet for the entirety of the shift, be able to successfully demonstrate exercises, and keep the fitness center organized and clean. Employees must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs to successfully re-rack weights, plates, and other equipment. The employee will also have frequent interactions with cleaning products including but not limited to wipes and disinfectant spray.

AGENCY EXPECTATIONS

Attend all staff meetings and gatherings.
Participate in agency in-service trainings and programs.
Provide administrative support for agency events.
Provide administrative support for other areas of the agency when needed.

Qualifications

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in customer service preferred or in a related field.
Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively interact professionally with all levels of internal and external personnel.
Current and broad knowledge of fitness equipment
Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Deadline/task oriented – sense of urgency
High energy, proactive, requiring little direction, takes responsibility.
Team oriented.
Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain an enthusiastic and professional demeanor while effectively and tactfully dealing with member and guest complaints and concerns.
A willingness to perform job tasks not part of immediate job responsibilities but aides in member satisfaction and getting the job done.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Proficient in Salesforce is preferred
