PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Senior Director, Digital Engagement (Senior Director) will be responsible for developing and executing a 360-degree digital strategy for ADL in today’s everchanging and fast-paced digital environment. The Senior Director will directly manage the team responsible for content creation, audience development, and influencer engagement for all ADL-owned social media channels, including the CEO’s Twitter account and Instagram handle. The Senior Director is a seasoned professional who is able to work directly with ADL’s Senior Leadership team, including the CEO, and other ADL subject matter experts. In addition to overseeing the digital strategy for ADL nationally, this role provides support and guidance to our 25 regional offices in the US and Israel, as well encouraging digital best practices among ADL staff.
Responsibilities
Primary:
- Develop, update, and maintain ADL’s comprehensive digital strategy in coordination with the Vice President of Communications & Media and in-line with the vision of the organization.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of a content and event calendar across all of ADL’s platforms, including the CEO’s social media handles to create a strategic social media strategy surrounding all news and events, while identifying opportunities to engage with communities online.
- Work directly with the CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team to determine and execute the direction of ADL’s digital engagement.
- Develop content for our various audiences with the goals of awareness, mobilization, and fundraising with the goal of growing our community online.
- Identify and provide strategic guidance during rapid response events and serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team in times of crisis.
- Evaluate ADL’s digital policy strengths and weaknesses to develop, implement, and maintain ADL’s official social media policy for both approval process and social media best practices.
- Build, customize, and rely on social media analytics to measure and improve the work of our organization in reaching and engaging target audiences.
- Develop and implement ADL’s digital influencer program.
- Serve as primary contact to external Social Media agency and lead coordination efforts across additional communications and brand and marketing vendors.
- Collaborate with brand and marketing to reinforce brand identity across all channels.
- Work in tandem with the Communications team to effectively and seamlessly integrate ADL news and messaging across digital platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure announcements, press releases, reports, events, breaking news and various days of observance are incorporated into social media.
- Manage two or more Social Media Strategists who will regularly monitor social media for breaking news or events pertinent to ADL’s mission.
- Provide training, technical support and strategic guidance to regional staff through communication about organizational messaging and priorities;’ social media best practices and the use of regional social channels.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Proven track record of growing a brand’s digital presence across multiple platforms with deep experience developing and executing digital strategies in tandem with marketing and media campaigns.
- Seasoned people manager with experience overseeing two or more direct reports.
- Experience working with C-Suite level executives in an advisory capacity.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining influencer, celebrity, and other high-level relationships within the context of digital engagement.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Exceptional project management skills.
- Fully conversant with social media platforms and tools, as well as an awareness of emerging trends.
- Proficient in writing and publishing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn in real-time.
- Experience working in a complex political climate.
- CMS, HTML, Photoshop and InDesign proficiency.
- Videography/photography skills a plus.
Work Experience:
- The ideal candidate has significant years’ experience in social media, with a demonstrable progression in skills, management and leadership on a political campaign, in issue-based advocacy, corporate or agency setting.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
Work Environment:
- ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.
Compensation:
- This position has a salary range of $150,000 to $175,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
