Description
Para-educators work with school-aged youth with developmental disabilities or special needs to modify or adapt summer day camp experiences so that youth may participate with their peers. Paraeducators develop goals for the child they support with the help of parents and our Inclusion Specialist. Our staff members document progress and communicate regularly with parents.
Schedule
Para-Educators may work full-time or part-time hours from May 27- August 8. All hours are scheduled between 7am-6pm, Monday through Friday. Preference is given to those who are available most of the summer season.

- Pay starts at $15.50/hr and up, dependent upon qualifications
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent education and experience
- 1-2 years prior experience working with children
- Education and/or experience working with youth with disabilities is highly preferred
J Camp Overview
The Jewish Community Center Day Camp (J Camp) offers a summer full of adventure, new activities and ultimate camp fun! Boys and girls entering 1st-8th grade register for sessions May 27 - August 8, 2025. Camp activities include games, crafts, hikes, Jewish culture, sports, swimming, swim lessons, archery, outdoor skills, cook-outs, field trips, and overnights. Specialty camps offer specific skill development through art projects, theatrical productions, triathlon training, culinary projects, STEM activities, and basketball, soccer, baseball and football training and drills.
It is our philosophy to provide an atmosphere where children feel protected and secure physically, emotionally, and socially. The J Camp staff members are caring, friendly, and skilled in providing a great summer experience. Staff members develop and refine job skills such as problem solving, negotiating, listening, flexibility, and creativity.
J Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. We work hard to meet the standards of all these organizations because we are committed to providing a safe and positive environment where children are challenged and supported.
