SCHOOL OVERVIEW

Valley Beth Shalom Harold M. Schulweis Day School is a K-6 independent Jewish Day School located on the Valley Beth Shalom Synagogue campus in Encino, California. The school was founded in 1978 by nationally renowned Rabbi Harold M. Schulweis z"l, and established to provide both a stellar General Studies and Judaic studies curriculum. Rabbi Schulweis believed that school should be a place where students grapple with questions and issues cultivating their critical thinking and learning to take action to make the world a better place. He believed this should be done in an environment that fostered strong Jewish values and active involvement in Jewish experiences and community. 45+ years later, the school stands true to the original mission as a forward- thinking learning environment, linking traditional Jewish values and teaching to modern-day decision making and action, all within a vibrant and nurturing Jewish community.

Position: Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant

Reports to: Head of Finance & HR

Status: Part-time, Temporary - Approximately 20-25 hours per week (October 2024 through March 2025 with the possibility to extend)

Responsibilities:

Performing day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivables and payables data
Coordinate approvals and ensure proper bookkeeping protocols are followed
Preparing statements and bank deposits
Following up on failed payments and resolving billing issues
Utilize various communication channels, such as phone calls, emails, and letters, to follow up with customers and collecting outstanding payments
Reconciling bank accounts & credit cards on a monthly basis
More duties and responsibilities may be assigned

Qualifications:

At least 3 years experience Bookkeeping/Quickbooks experience at a small business or nonprofit organization
Proficiency in English and in MS Office
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented work style
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues

Successful completion of fingerprint clearance, TB screening and satisfactory reference check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
