ADL Summer 2025 Internship Description
ADL’s Federal Affairs team is looking for a dynamic intern to join us from June 9 to August 8, 2025. ADL’s Federal Affairs team bridges ADL’s 25 regional offices with Congress, the Administration, and other federal entities. The team works with partner organizations to advance ADL’s mission and advocate on issues including antisemitism, hate crimes, domestic terrorism, online hate, and harassment. The Federal Affairs team offers interns hands-on experience with a leading anti-hate organization in Washington, D.C., engaging on federal policy issues. This is an exciting opportunity to grow, contribute, and help shape ADL’s vital work.
Application portals will close at 6 PM ET on March 7, 2025. ADL will confirm the selected candidates by mid-April.
Responsibilities
Requirements:
- Must possess high school diploma or equivalent
- Passion for non-profit work
- Desire to start building career within non-profit sector
Responsibilities:
- Assist ADL’s Congressional outreach efforts by brainstorming, drafting, formatting, and proofreading letters, comments, and action pages. (Examples can be found on our Action Center and Congressional Letters page).
- Attend, take notes, and report on congressional hearings, meetings, and policy events relevant to ADL’s legislative priorities.
- Conduct research and analysis, contributing to broader ADL campaigns and projects.
- Monitor social media and news for relevant updates on national legislation and issues.
- Support team projects with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Skills:
- A positive attitude, curiosity, and commitment to ADL’s mission.
- Previous work or internship experience, with experience on Capitol Hill or in advocacy, is a plus, but not required.
- A strong academic record, with an interest in government relations.
- Leadership or advocacy involvement on campus.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Stellar attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Compensation and Hours:
- This internship is paid $17.50 an hour.
- The internship is 15 hours per week.
Location:
- This internship will be hybrid, with on-site presence required in Washington, D.C.
What will you do during this internship?
- You will learn about real-life decision-making challenges and help us develop real-time solutions.
- You will have the opportunity to present your work at internal forums within ADL.
- You will have practical, hands-on experience with Federal Affairs programming.
- Collaborate with, meet and learn from ADL subject matter experts at all levels and become familiar with the varied work we do to “stop the defamation of the Jewish people and secure justice and fair treatment to all.”
