PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Director, Volunteer Advocacy and Community Mobilization (Director) will be responsible for leading advocacy campaigns, programs and initiatives to counter antisemitism and mobilize volunteer engagement.
Responsibilities
Primary:
- Develop and execute initiatives to mobilize ADL’s volunteer leaders in support of policy priorities, collaborating with regional offices, national leadership, and division staff.
- Craft grassroots and grasstops advocacy campaigns at the federal, state and local levels; advance rapid-response opportunities to global, national and local issues affecting the Jewish community.
- Lead initiatives to organize, empower, and activate the Jewish community and allies to counter antisemitism and extremism on campus, K-12, government, and other sectors.
- Create and implement leadership development programs for volunteers, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively advocate for ADL's policy priorities.
- Develop and implement advocacy programs for volunteers including remote and in person training and mobilization. Develop materials, toolkits, and resources for volunteer advocates to use in their efforts.
- Oversee efforts to engage grasstops donors in federal, state and local advocacy.
- Leverage and support efforts at national ADL events to advance advocacy objectives.
- Track and analyze the impact of volunteer-led advocacy campaigns, using data to refine strategies, improve outreach, and measure success.
- Manage and mentor staff and consultants as appropriate.
Qualifications
Skills:
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience leading advocacy efforts at a major national organization, with proven success in grassroots and volunteer mobilization.
- Proven leadership in managing complex projects, overseeing and mentoring staff, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with community leaders
- Commitment to advancing transparency and accountability in addressing antisemitism.
- A demonstrated interest in ADL’s mission and policy priorities.
- Able to develop project/work plans and execute on them with minimal supervision.
- Creative problem solver with entrepreneurial spirit and self-starting nature.
- Results-oriented with a sense of urgency. Willing to make tough decisions in a timely manner.
- Team player with willingness to play multiple positions as needed.
- High tolerance for ambiguity.

- Manage partnerships and collaborations to enhance credibility and impact.
- Foster stakeholder engagement and buy-in through effective communication and relationship management.
Education:
- Advanced degree in relevant fields such as social sciences or public policy, preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Work Environment:
- Flexibility is required to work extended hours or on weekends as may be needed.
- Ability to spend long hours upon occasion at workstation/computer.
- Occasional travel is required to attend meetings, events and conferences.
- ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may be remote.
Compensation:
- This position has a salary range of $92,000 to $132,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
