The Harry & Ramson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) seeks candidates with a strong passion for teaching younger ages, who are enthusiastic and work well in a team setting. The Childcare Teacher directly supervises the children in their care and supports the children and families of the Hourly Childcare program at the JCC. These part-time positions work approximately 15 hours per week, during the following hours: 7:45am - 11:30am. Hourly Childcare is open seven days a week, but our current staffing needs are Monday - Friday.

Position Summary
The Childcare Teacher will ensure that the children in Hourly Childcare are provided with a healthy and safe environment, as well as tender, responsive, quality care that addresses the children’s needs on a daily and annual basis. This assistance will ensure the smooth functioning of the classroom(s) to which he/she is assigned and that the highest levels of care, education, enrichment, and program delivery are met for members, community members, children and families served in these programs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Directly supervise the children in your care and support the children and families.
- Ensure and promote the equitable, fair and consistent treatment of all staff members, parents, and children.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
- Provide a safe environment for all children by keeping them in sight and sound at all times.
- Participate in Hourly Childcare department meetings, trainings, and other aspects of professional growth provided by the JCC and other outside resources.
- Partner with the Hourly Childcare Coordinator to help develop and deliver a daily program for children that is founded upon the belief that children will be enriched by developmentally, individually, and culturally appropriate activities.
- Provide children with an emotional environment of acceptance in which children can grow with a positive self-concept.
- Establish and maintain a well-organized, safe, and healthy environment for children.
- Plan for and maintain state mandated / JCC stated staff to child ratios for supervision of children at all times.
- Check materials, equipment, and supplies to ensure that amounts are adequate and that equipment is in good repair. Take preventative measures against hazards to physical safety. Care for and maintain equipment within the school. If something needs immediate attention, please inform the Tot Spot Coordinator immediately.
- Maintain a high level of customer service including handing difficult or emotional customer situations, responding promptly to customer needs, responding to requests for service or assistance and meeting commitments.
- To assume responsibilities as assigned for JCC special events.
- To perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements (KSAs)
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with other staff members, HRS JCC members, and community members.
- Ability to promote high standards of program delivery and professional excellence.
- Ability to articulate the influences of Judaic culture on our programs, operational decisions and mission based work, be sensitive to cultural differences, demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm in work style, create a positive and harmonious workplace, effective time management, and understand individual leadership styles and its influence on the well-being of the staff.
- Ability to resolve conflict effectively and demonstrate maturity as well as the ability to get along with a variety of people.
- Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; customer-service orientation with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
Education And/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in childcare.
