The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) is a non-profit social service agency serving Milwaukee at 6 sites through 18 unique service areas including: fitness, aquatics, early childhood education, day & overnight camps, arts & culture, and an emergency food pantry.

The JCC Accounting Department’s internship provides an introduction to accounting responsibilities. You'll get to wear a continuous improvement hat to help us improve upon current processes in a variety of accounting disciplines. You will also gain real work experience working in a not-for-profit ERP system, expand on Microsoft Office skills and learn how to apply classroom knowledge to the workplace!
This is a paid Spring Internship late-January through mid-May 2025.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Specific accounting focused training, tasks and special projects will provide practical and real-life experience with non-profit accounts payables, bank reconciliations, general ledgers, and year-end accounting processes
- Observe and perform basic to intermediate accounting functions and tasks
- Prepare spreadsheets with data interpretation, reconciliation, and review
- Assist in the preparation of periodic financial statements including account reconciliation and analysis of transactions in accounts receivable, accounts payable and property accounting areas and preparation of journal entries
- Review expense reports for any discrepancies, research such discrepancies and coordinate with payroll for data entry
- Support the development of the JCC’s financial statements
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of budgets
- General accounting and office duties as assigned
- Participate in special projects

Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Requirements (KSAs)
- Strong communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office
- Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
- Interest in nonprofit management and community development
Education And/or Experience
- A Junior or Senior working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an Accounting or a related field
