PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Associate Director of Research and Evaluation is a critical role in the Center for Antisemitism Research, reporting to the Director of Research Strategy. To oversee the development, design, and analysis of research related to the Center for Antisemitism Research. To lead collaborations with internal and external stakeholders and researchers in the execution of a broad research agenda. To cultivate a data-driven culture throughout ADL, with a focus on local experiments and collaboration.
Responsibilities
Primary:
- Design research studies using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the ADL and partner institutions, helping to ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Manage research projects, coordinating multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.
- Engage in primary data collection, creating quantitative or qualitative sampling plans and instruments, supervising dissemination of surveys, and designing and executing statistical analyses.
- Conduct secondary analyses of mixed methods data.
- Clean and manipulate real-world, sometimes messy administrative data.
- Quickly and skillfully review academic literature on a given trend or phenomenon, assessing the quality of evidence, and summarizing salient findings.
- Help policymakers and practitioners access and understand existing research; work with them to identify further research questions and testable hypotheses; help them interpret new findings and envision how they could be applied.
- Create deliverables, incl. written reports, oral presentations, and visuals.
- Help write IRB protocols and monitor the process of informed consent with research participants.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Research experience in an academic or applied setting.
- Strong understanding of quasi-experimental design and program evaluation, esp. impact assessment.
- Expertise in survey research methods and ability to work with complex survey data OR expertise in qualitative methods, interviews, focus group facilitation
- Experience with Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or similar survey platforms.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Strong commitment to the ethical conduct of research. Formal training in human subjects research (CITI or similar) and experience writing IRB protocols a plus.
- Familiarity with antisemitism specifically or forms of hatred and intolerance more generally.
- Sensitivity to and curiosity about a range of people and phenomena.
Work Experience:
- The ideal candidate has several years’ experience in a quantitative/qualitative research position in an academic or applied setting with demonstrable experience in project management.
Education:
- Graduate degree in sociology, psychology, behavioral science, education, or other related field, or commensurate experience preferred.
Work Environment:
- ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.
Compensation:
- This position has a salary range of $71,000 to $100,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
