Position Summary
The Disability Inclusion Department is seeking an Inclusion Specialist to collaborate with the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) Client Coach. This role is essential for delivering direct services in education, health, safety, and program delivery within our adult day program. The Inclusion Specialist will ensure that clients experience a supportive, healthy, and safe environment while receiving high-quality individualized programing. This position requires a commitment to facilitating a smooth and effective day program, prioritizing education and program delivery. The hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with DSAW staff to establish and track individual client goals.
- Model appropriate social skills and positive interactions consistently.
- Support clients by guiding them through real-life experiences and skills practice.
- Research and implement necessary accommodations for essential life skills, including personal hygiene, meal planning and preparation, home upkeep, money management, and technology use.
- Maintain and cultivate positive, professional relationships with clients, families, employers, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide educational resources and support to family members and natural supports.
- Transport clients via JCC (Jewish Community Center) vehicle for monthly outings.
- Advocate for clients as needed, teaching them essential self-advocacy skills.
- Attend required meetings and in-service training sessions regularly.
- Monitor client progress, complete necessary documentation, and maintain attendance records.
- Assist in the development of monthly programs aligned with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
- Ensure management of program supplies, food items, and logistical needs in collaboration with partner programs.
- Actively promote and practice the organization’s Positive Rules of Communication.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as needed to support program success.

Qualifications
Interpersonal Skills

- Flexibility in schedule and adaptability in various situations.
- Competent in managing emergency situations and behavioral challenges calmly and effectively.
- Team-oriented and cooperative with DSAW partners and CISN supervisors.
- Strong communication skills to engage with clients and their families.
- Must be at least 25 years old to drive a 14-passenger van.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- At least two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings (classroom, workplace, childcare, medical, or residential).
- Minimum age is 25.
- Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and a clean driving record with 1-2 years of driving experience required.
- Successful completion of a background check per State of Wisconsin requirements.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and communicate clearly. The work environment can vary in noise levels. The role may involve walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, stooping, and lifting/moving items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Extended periods of sitting or standing may be required.
Work Environment
The role entails working both indoors and outdoors, with daily interactions with clients.
