Principal Responsibilities:
JLA Basketball Scorekeeper/ Coach will report to the Sports and Recreation Coordinator. The position supports our men's basketball league as stats and score keeper and staff liaison, and our youth sports programs like basketball and soccer. The ideal candidate understands basketball and soccer, has experience in teaching different sports, is a mentor to young children, and can adapt on the fly. They are a team player with excellent communication skills, and have experience working with children, and their families. This is a part-time non-exempt position.
Minimum Qualifications:
The primary responsibilities of the Basketball Scorekeeper/ Coach include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate team basketball practices and youth clinics.
- Coach teams in games
- Assist in set up of multiple different sports programs
- Function a stats and scorekeeper for men's basketball league
- Develop sound professional relationships with children and parents
- Collaborate as a member of the sports staff
Key Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of basketball playing experience(preferred)
- 1-2 years of coaching experience(preferred)
- 1-2 years of soccer playing experience
- Prior experience in working with children and their families
- Exceptional skill and capacity for engagement and relationship building with both children, and adults
- Proven ability to plan, originate and organize practices
- Be a leader, self-starter, and strong collaborator
- Ability to accept guidance, constructive feedback, and support
