PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Israel Affairs Analyst will help with monitoring and researching ADL’s Israel-related issues, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, US-Israel relations, anti-Zionism and other efforts to delegitimize Israel, Israel-Diaspora affairs, and intra-Israel issues. They will also provide research assistance to the International Affairs (IA) team, including flagging and reacting to developments in global antisemitism.
The Israel Affairs Analyst will work closely with the Director of Israel Affairs, ADL’s Jerusalem office, and other members of the IA team on developing ADL content and policy on these issues, including researching and drafting public-facing materials and internal policy guidance. They will also work with ADL’s regional offices and other departments to provide them with background and assistance on Israel-related matters.
Responsibilities
Primary:
- Monitor and research ADL’s Israel-related issues, including the Israeli-Palestinian relations, US-Israel relations, Israel relations with Arab states, anti-Zionism and other efforts to delegitimize Israel, Israel-Diaspora affairs and intra-Israel issues.
- Develop ADL content on Israel-related issues, including researching and drafting public-facing materials and internal policy guidance.
- Provide research and analysis on relevant Israel materials, including media coverage, books, films, curricula and other items.
- Respond to inquiries from divisions and regions on Israel and anti-Zionism matters and help develop response strategies.
- Provide research assistance to the IA team, including flagging and reacting to developments in global antisemitism.
- Assist ADL efforts to compile and aggregate data related to antisemitism, anti-Zionism, and Jewish communities around the world.
Secondary:
- Preparation of background materials for various ADL briefings and events, and represent the organization at diplomatic, Jewish organizational and other NGO meetings as appropriate.
- Support scheduling and set up of in-person and virtual meetings.
- Note taking and drafting meeting readouts.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Deep understanding of Israel, anti-Zionist trends, global antisemitism, US Jewish community and foreign policy.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in fast-changing environment and address evolving needs.
- Can work both independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in written and verbal English and familiarity with Hebrew required.
- Fluency in Hebrew is a plus. Knowledge of Arabic a plus.

Work Experience:
- The ideal candidate has strong knowledge and connection to Israel, professional experience in the Jewish community, NGO world, or in government/diplomacy, and familiarity with issues related to the Jewish world and antisemitism.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree preferred.
Work Environment:
- Flexibility to work across time-zones
- ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require a minimum of 3 days in the office.
Compensation:
- This position has a salary range of $54,000 to $67,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
