ASSOCIATE GENERAL MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for assisting in overseeing and directing all events. The Associate General Manager will manage the operations and front of house staff in order to work towards the common goal of successful events and happy clients. The Associate General Manager will report directly to the General Manager.
Events at the Shanna & Bryan Glazer JCC will range from social occasions, including weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs, to corporate meetings and community events.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Book, plan and execute all JCC internal events
- Supervise the activities of the Sales Manager, Event Coordinator, and Banquet Captain, ensuring alignment with the General Manager's directives and operational goals.
- Provide support to both front- and back-of-house team members as needed to ensure seamless operations and exceptional service delivery.
- Maintain proactive and consistent communication with the General Manager to collaborate on all Event Center activities and operations.
- Actively participle in the recruitment, selection, development, and retention of all staff
- Ensure that all events are executed properly, to the client’s satisfaction
- Promote a vibrant, unparalleled event experience for the customer
- Assist sales manager with booking clients
- Assist Coordinator(s) with planning through execution to deliver events that meet or exceed all clients’ expectations
- Attend weekly BEO meetings
- Manage the security function to protect the assets and the personal safety of the employees and guests
- Maintain a positive attitude while remaining objective in all circumstances
- Communicate and uphold all agency standards, guidelines, policies and procedures in accordance with agency, local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Provide conflict resolutions in a positive, effective manner
- Manage physical facility to ensure proper maintenance and repair
- Maintain personal integrity by abiding by and supporting the values and principles of the agency
- Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Work closely with the culinary department to execute flawless events
- Stay current on hospitality industry trends
- Adhere to cash bar procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill And Ability
- Excellent record of event details in BEO
- Able to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Capable of delegating multiple tasks
- Up to date with event and food trends and best practices
- Able to communicate clearly, professionally, concisely and respectfully
- Strong knowledge of local, state and federal food sanitation regulations
- Demonstrate success at managing high performing teams
- Able to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner, while maintaining accuracy and quality
- Comply with certification requirements as applicable for position to include Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR and First Aid
- Computer skills – proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and knowledge of Caterease is preferred
- Flexible hours, including weekends
- Professional appearance and attitude
Experience Requirements
- 5 years of previous hospitality experience in a large-scale, high-quality event venue or fine dining restaurant
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in hospitality
- Valid driver's license
Physical Requirements
- Be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time
- Must be able to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
