Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Publishing Associate (15 hours/week) to join our small but dedicated team at the Jewish Press. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills and an interest in Jewish culture and community affairs. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a close-knit community, where your work will help inform, engage, and serve readers.
Essential Job Functions
- Review articles for grammar, punctuation, clarity, and consistency, ensuring high-quality, error-free content.
- Liaise with community members, organizations, and contributors to gather news, stories, and updates that are relevant to the Jewish community.
- Assist with organizing editorial meetings, tracking deadlines, mail, and managing content submissions.
- Maintain and organize past articles, photos, and documents for future reference.
- Mail (or email) invoices and sales receipts with tear sheets as needed.
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, documentation, and data entry
Position Requirements
- Attend staff meetings as necessary.
- Skills necessary: research, knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet, data.base usage experience, responsible, able to effectively communicate with JCCs & Federation constituents, knowledge of utilizing office equipment, superior organizational skills.
- Years of experience: At least 5 years in sales
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting, pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds using proper body mechanics and/or available equipment as physically required—including but not limited to moving supplies and office furniture etc.
- Physical stamina – must be able to bend, kneel, and squat as required to maintain donor files and records, etc.
- Must be able to sit at a desk in an office environment at least 80% of the work shift. Ability to walk and standing intermittently for the remaining 20% of the assigned work day.
- Work is mainly performed in a weather controlled, air conditioned/heated facility. Facility is well lit and has minimal obstacles.
- Position uses typical office environment apparatus including computer, printer, fax machine and copier.

- Managing Editor or Publisher of the Jewish Press
