PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Director of Content & Learning Strategy on our Education Team, reporting to the VP Education, is a pivotal role leading a team of experts in curriculum, learning design, and advocacy resources. Responsible for crafting the vision for our educational content on antisemitism, this role establishes the pedagogical frameworks and content for all our programs, courses, and educational & advocacy resources. This role requires a deep understanding of historical and contemporary antisemitism and a commitment to promoting educational excellence, dialogue, and engagement in the field as well as leveraging research from our Center for Antisemitism Research. With a user-centered focus, they ensure the responsiveness of our resources to the current events and needs of schools, parents, regions, and other constituents. This proactive and responsive approach extends to setting the content agenda for all ADL Education products. The Director of Content & Learning Strategy works with their team to manage a portfolio of resources that includes program content, for educators and students, instructional videos, curriculum, lesson plans, toolkits, and activities for facilitated learning experiences.
Responsibilities
Primary:
- Lead the conceptualization and development of innovative learning products that enhance ADL Education’s offerings and student, educator and parent courses.
- Lead the development and implementation of advocacy initiatives and content that promote the integration of antisemitism education and safeguarding of Jewish students within K-12 schools. Work closely with National Affairs and Education Program teams on advocacy initiatives.
- Provide strategic roadmap planning, leadership and for ADL Education courses, products, and resources at the national, international, and regional level, informed by market research.
- Lead instructional design strategy across the Content, Learning, and Design team, ensuring alignment within and across the Education team. Build systems and processes in conjunction with Programs team to design, iterate, and implement new content and materials needed for national and local programs.
- Oversee educator-led programs (grades K-12 and out-of-school time), college-aged resources, adult learning, and informal learning (camp, youth groups, trips.)
- Create resources on antisemitism-related issues and new resources in response to current events, research, and educator requests.
- Oversee multiple projects, ensuring proper resourcing, adherence to scope, budget, and time.
- Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship, feedback, and performance evaluation for a team of approximately eight.
- Oversee our Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system, integrating surveys in products and platforms. Collaborate with evaluation partners in designing methodology, instruments for data collection, analysis, and reporting. Ensure we use evaluation data to adjust curriculum based on feedback.
- Collaborate with our Center for Antisemitism research, market data, external evaluation partners and our internal evaluation partner on methodologies to assess the impact and effectiveness of antisemitism education on target populations and efficacy of intervention strategies,
Secondary
- Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts for new curriculum development.
- Ensure we use evaluation data and emerging research to adjust curriculum based on feedback. Monitor blogs, websites, journals, and news articles for new developments.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the program team inviting in partner teams
- Represent ADL in meetings, public presentations, and speaking engagements.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in advocating for programs and policies within the K-12 education system, with a track record of successful implementation and impact.
- In-depth knowledge of antisemitism, bias reduction strategies, and DEI principles.
- Outstanding leadership ability and team building, managerial, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing others on a dispersed team in a virtual environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to represent the organization in meetings, public presentations, and speaking engagements.
- Ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
- Ability to oversee multiple projects, ensuring proper resourcing, adherence to scope, budget, and timelines.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including subject matter experts, and program teams.
- Creative, innovative approach ideally with experience with human centered design.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equvilent work experience required; Master’s or higher degree, particularly in the education field, preferred; 5-7 years of work experience in the field of advocacy, Jewish education, or Israel-related programming. Strong preference for candidates with school or district leadership experience.
Work Experience:
- The ideal candidate has significant years’ experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams, including online learning teams and content, learning, and design teams with demonstrable experience in pedagogy, curriculum design, and educational content development.
Work Environment:
- ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.
Compensation:
- This position has a salary range of $90,000 to $150,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
