PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Associate Director will conduct in-depth research and analysis to inform the development of projects and products to hold institutions and systems accountable in the fight against antisemitism. They will support an expanded effort in evaluating higher education responses to Antisemitism and inform new strategic initiatives to expand assessments and analyses across various new sectors. They will work across the organization to leverage the expertise, experience, relationships, and will collaborate with a diverse group of partner organizations, comprising experts in the relevant fields, methodologists, and representatives from Jewish and non-Jewish organizations.
Responsibilities
Primary:
- Support the expansion of the scope of assessments to include diverse criteria such as policies, safety, discrimination exposure, etc.
- Inform efforts to integrate additional metrics and enhance the depth of analysis.
- Conduct research with key stakeholders and practitioners to identify needs and opportunities for intervention.
- Address challenges and opportunities proactively, ensuring projects meet quality standards and timelines.
- Analyze data and trends related to antisemitism, providing insights to guide program development.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of best practices and emerging strategies in the field.
- Assist in drafting of reports, articles, and presentations based on research findings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate research outcomes into actionable initiatives.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate findings effectively.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Experience working on complex projects, preferably in a research or advocacy environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with experts, policymakers, and community leaders.
- Commitment to advancing transparency and accountability in addressing antisemitism.
- A demonstrated interest in ADL’s mission and policy priorities.
- Able to develop project/work plans and execute on them with minimal supervision.
- Creative problem solver with entrepreneurial spirit and self-starting nature.
- Results-oriented with a sense of urgency. Willing to make tough decisions in a timely manner.
- Team player with willingness to play multiple positions as needed.
- Approaches problems with a solutions mindset.
Education:
- Advanced degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, public policy, or international relations preferred or equivalent professional experience.
Work Experience:
- The ideal candidate has an education or professional experience in social sciences, political science, or related fields, with a focus on research methodology.
Work Environment:
- Flexibility is required to work extended hours or on weekends as may be needed.
- Ability to spend long hours upon occasion at workstation/computer.
- Occasional travel is required to attend meetings, events and conferences.
- ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require 3 days in the office.
Compensation:
- This position has a salary range of $54,000 to $85,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
