PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Events Manager is a key team member on ADL’s Principal Gifts team with dotted line reporting and support from the Donor Experience Events team. The Events Manager, Principal Gifts, closely collaborates with ADL’s CEO, executive officers and senior leaders. This role provides direct management for bespoke fundraising and engagement events for the organization’s top donors and donor prospects and works closely with the Brand and Marketing team on national engagement events for the organization especially as it pertains to principal gifts prospects/donors’ engagement. This role is responsible for designing and overseeing all aspects of each event in partnership with the Principal Gifts team - from goal setting through execution - including logistics, programs and materials, and ensuring each event delivers on its strategic goals and KPIs. Flexibility, collaboration, creative thinking, and strong communication skills are essential in this role.
Responsibilities
Primary:
- Design, plan, organize and execute sophisticated, bespoke fundraising and engagement events for ADL’s top donors including but not limited to fundraising dinners/galas, targeted donor receptions, stewardship and cultivation gatherings, CEO travel-related engagements and events, etc.
- Collaborate with the Brand and Marketing team on unique principal gifts’ prospects and donor engagement at Never is Now.
- Track and report on event-related fundraising and engagement priorities and metrics.
- Collaborate with Director of Special Projects, Chief of Staff, and others to manage event budgets, negotiate vendor contracts, and ensure timely invoice payments.
- Manage communications and outreach deliverables for assigned engagement and special events including email, mail, and personal outreach.
- Align with Event and Stewardship colleagues to coordinate the design and production of all print and electronic engagement, fundraising and event deliverables.
- Coordinate clear messaging for event programs/runs of show, ensuring all relevant parties have provided input and final programs are cleared/approved.
- Serve as a point of communication for external event contacts and stakeholders.
- Distribute photos and follow-up deliverables for post-event wrap up.
- Contribute to event and fundraising strategy meetings and stay current on internal positioning and substantive external developments in ADL’s mission areas.
Qualifications
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders, including high net worth individuals, c-suite executives, board members, and colleagues.
- Strong project management, organizational and administrative skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver successful events.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective presentation skills and impeccable attention to detail required.
- Creative design sensibilities and basic experience in design software (Adobe Photoshop, Canva) preferred.
- Ability to center the strategic “why” of the event, ensuring all elements align to deliver on that promise.
- Technical competence required. Working familiarity and comfort with event platforms (Cvent, Neon/Rallybound, Classy), CRM database systems (Salesforce), virtual collaboration tech (Zoom, Slack, Box), marketing reporting/analytics functions essential. Comfort learning and utilizing new technology essential.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to see multiple projects through to completion simultaneously, while meeting tight deadlines.
- Initiative-taking with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team while demonstrating an extraordinary drive to meet and exceed goals.
- Comfort in collaborating with colleagues remotely across the country essential.

Work Experience:
- Five years of direct special event management experience required.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and working with cross-functional teams.
- Direct experience managing events and engagements for C-suite executives and VIP attendees.
- Nonprofit and fundraising experience preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Work Environment:
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Travel will be required to manage and attend events.
- ADL is a hybrid environment, though this role may be performed remotely.
Compensation:
- This position has a salary range of $70,000 to $120,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, New York. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
