UJA-Federation of New York cares for those in need, rescues those in harm’s way, and renews and strengthens the Jewish people in New York, in Israel, and around the world. As the largest local Jewish federation in the world, UJA-Federation has been a critical actor in the historic work of North American Jewry in Israel over the past 60 years.
The Investment Office manages the endowment and pension plan assets of the UJA-Federation of New York. The assets are invested with external managers globally across a broad range of asset classes and strategies including public equity and credit, hedge funds, private equity and credit, and real assets.
Position Summary
The Investment Quantitative Analyst will have the opportunity to work in a small, flat investment organization supporting the management and oversight of the UJA-Federation’s investment assets. The ideal candidate will be an analytical problem solver with a passion for data engineering, analysis, and visualization. This role will provide exposure to an endowment’s decision-making process in the management of a multi-asset class portfolio providing familiarity and training with data and risk management methodologies.
Major Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize the data infrastructure for the Investment Office (IO), gaining a deep understanding of all the data sources and usage. Manage and expand the SQL database to ensure data accuracy, validation, and accessibility. Leverage tools like Streamlit to facilitate Python-based data workflows.
- Build and enhance process tools to streamline the IO's operational functions. For example, expand JIRA's project management capabilities beyond trade management to support broader investment processes.
- Develop advanced, custom data analytics tools in Tableau and Excel to empower the IO's investment decision-making. These tools will support returns-based and holdings-based risk analytics across multiple asset classes and investment strategies.
- Create dashboards and predictive analytics for asset allocation decisions and strategic investment featuring macroeconomic and fundamental data.
- Actively participate in IO decision meetings, offering insights from the analytics tools developed. Provide evaluation and advisory support for potential technology investments.
- Collaborate with other departments within UJA to identify and implement automation opportunities for reporting and data-driven processes.
- Work on ad-hoc investment related projects as directed by the Director of Investments or CIO, bringing an enterprising approach to project execution and problem-solving.

Competencies and Requirements
- Proficient at learning and working with different software systems specialized in investment risk and research management; strong abilities in Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and Python; working knowledge of SQL
- Skilled in data aggregation, validation, organization, analysis, and interpretation, with an understanding of financial or similar quantitative decision-making contexts
- Highly self-directed, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines across multiple projects. Approaches work with an entrepreneurial mindset, always looking to improve processes and outcomes.
- Strong attention to detail, proactive in learning from mistakes, and unafraid to ask questions to ensure accuracy and integrity in all outputs
- Capable of effective collaboration, with a willingness to teach and support users across teams
- Graduate degree, preferably in business analytics, finance, data science, or engineering
- At least five years of experience managing data analytics for an organization, preferably a financial firm.
Salary
- $150,000 to $175,000 plus bonus potential, commensurate with experience
