Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Community Security (AD) will play an integral part in providing overall security for the Cincinnati Jewish Community. Initially, the AD will develop, implement and administrate a program that ensures appropriate levels of personnel security for Cincinnati-area Jewish facilities, organizations and events. The AD will help SAFE Cincinnati identify and address adverse incidents, trends and threats which may impact the Cincinnati Jewish Community; oversee facilities security assessments, maintain positive relationships with law enforcement partners, and supervise periodic security reviews for each of our area facilities. In addition, the AD will be responsible for overall supervision of SAFE Cincinnati in the absence of the Security Director. (Details below.)
Essential Functions - SAFE Cincinnati Security Detail Coordinator –
- schedule and procure police security details for all of the Jewish nonprofit organizations’ community events, including: Shabbat services, Jewish day schools, weekly religious schools, high holiday events and designated special events.
- develop and operate an administrative system to ensure: all requested security details are filled; all required documentation for detail reimbursements are properly completed; all reimbursement documents are properly submitted for appropriate reimbursements.
- develop a loyal cadre of current law enforcement officers that will provide directed police security services specifically for all of our Jewish venues/events; provide strong executive level liaison to local police departments and work within recognized police departments parameters/customs to ascertain that all community security detail needs are met if not exceeded.
- exhibit flexibility and accountability to avoid and/or address any issues regarding last minute notices of unfilled security details.
- navigate each police department’s security detail request web-based platforms to ensure accuracy of scheduling, filling and administering of all security details.
- Perform and administer comprehensive facility security assessments for nonprofit Jewish organizations, upon request or in pursuit of state/federal security grants.
- Conduct regular Facilities Security Reviews (FSR) for designated Jewish nonprofit facilities; reviewing both physical security posture and security protocols to ensure facilities are practicing and enforcing appropriate security measures.
- At the Director’s discretion, or in the absence/unavailability of the Director, respond to emergency situations which adversely affect the Jewish community or members thereof.
- Maintain virtual “on-call” presence during “off-duty” hours (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays.) and respond immediately to emergency situations.
- Attend workshops/conferences/training specifically identified by the Federation for the purpose of improving the security/analytical program (i.e., technical, cyber, investigative, emergency, response related training, etc.)
- Provide assistance with a myriad of clerical duties, including but not limited to assistance in preparing for meetings, coordinating/organizing conferences, preparing semi-annual and annual reports, assisting with budgetary issues, and other assigned administrative tasks.
- Perform other related services as designated from time-to-time by the Federation’s Director of Community Security and/or the Chief Executive Officer in order to help to promote the general security and welfare of the Jewish community in the greater Cincinnati area.
Position Qualifications
- Significant law enforcement experience is required - demonstrated proficiency in building and maintaining multiple law enforcement relationships at the highest levels; knowledge of police security detail scheduling is preferred, conversant in “RollKall” scheduling systems would be a plus.
- Elevated writing proficiency, including most notably accuracy and precision. Strong analytical skills Strong diplomatic and presentation skills.
- Must have a strong demonstrable ability to both take and follow directions and to work in a small team setting but also have the ability to work independently. Strong understanding of current events and the threats facing the Jewish community at large
- Ability to recognize and develop information/research on groups/individuals who pose potential threats and convey the information to appropriate entities for proper resolution.
- Possesses, or has the ability/qualifications to pursue/obtain, a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
